The Fourth World Congress of jade artists
Artist. Victorino Diaz Hernandez El Colocho
I was very honoured to be asked once again to serve as a judge at the World Congress of Jade Artists, held in the beautiful town of Antigua, Guatemala. There were two categories this year. One for sculptural work, the other for jewelry. The skill and creativity of those who work with this precious stone go from strength to strength. Some of the pieces just take my breath away. Those who follow the world of jade can find the names and photos of the winners posted in jade forums on Facebook, Instagram and other social media. Here is a small selection of carvings that didn’t win, just to show how high the standard has now become among jade artists working with this fabulous stone. And all power to Mary Lou Ridinger at Jade Maya for launching the World Congress of Jade Artists to showcase this talent.
