Andrew Shaw – Jade Artist

Andrew is the only foreigner to be accepted as a master jade carver in China. He gave up his job as a BBC journalist to pursue his dream to learn to carve jade. After spending two years learning his craft from Chinese masters in Suzhou he opened his own workshop and gallery and soon began winning gold medals in national and international competitions. He is now an internationally recognized jade artist who sells his work in Europe, Asia and north America.

Andrew works with jewelry companies interested in sourcing jade and as a consultant for mining concerns. He is often asked to give talks about the Stone of Heaven and also appears at corporate events. He recently gave a presentation on The Fake Antique Jade Industry to the Royal Asiatic Society in Shanghai and on Western Carving Techniques to the National Association of Jade Collectors in Beijing.
