Jade and Gold
An increasingly common use of jade is in jewelry. This is in part because high quality jade is now so expensive that only a small piece is affordable, so it is often embellished with gold and precious stones. Rings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and brooches often fall into this category. There is also the time honoured tradition of goldwork within the jade itself. The renowned Ming Dynasty carver, Lu Zigang, was noted for the way he incorporated gold and jewels in his work. This little snippet is an example of one of the ways gold is allied with jade today.
