There is a trend in the Chinese jade industry to wrap large pebbles of jadeite in oilskin and sell them to gullible customers who buy in the hope that the material inside is by some miracle worth a fortune. These pebbles have a thick rind so even without the oilskin wrapping it is impossible to know the quality of the stone inside. Very few of them have any jade worth carving.
