Jade in modern jewelry design

Jade is once again making headlines in the Western press. An article in the National talks about how Asprey’s is selling jadeite for big bucks to Arab sheikhs in the Middle East. You can read the article by clicking here. The company is making it clear that they have sourced their jadeite ethically. It’s an important point. Whenever I make something out of jadeite sourced in Myanmar I make sure it’s properly sourced. While Asprey’s boasts of its collection in fabulous green jadeite I prefer the softer and more elegant lavender color. The photo in this post is one of my latest creations.
